Accessibility Policy for OBENA
Last updated: 7 May 2026.
1. Introduction
OBENA is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible digital environment for all users, including individuals with disabilities. This Accessibility Policy outlines our commitments, our current conformance posture, and how to reach us about accessibility issues.
We are early in our product journey. We have not yet completed an independent accessibility audit, and the platform is still evolving. This Policy describes what we are aiming for and how we are getting there — not a finished destination.
2. Guiding principles
Our approach to accessibility is guided by the following principles:
- Inclusivity: We strive to create a platform that can be accessed and used by the broadest range of individuals, regardless of ability or disability.
- Usability: We prioritize user-friendly design and functionality, aiming for a platform all users can navigate and engage with efficiently.
- Compliance: We aim to align our practices with recognized accessibility standards and applicable law, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and applicable national or regional laws.
3. Conformance status
- Target standard: Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, with ongoing review of WCAG 2.2 Level AA as we mature.
- Conformance claim: We are working toward conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We have not yet completed an independent third-party audit, and the platform may not yet meet every Level AA success criterion. We do not currently make a formal conformance claim.
- Last reviewed: 7 May 2026 (internal review, not a third-party audit).
- Known limitations: Because we have not yet conducted a formal audit, we do not maintain a published list of known limitations. As we identify issues — through internal review, user feedback, or audits — we will track them and address them on a reasonable timeline.
We design and build with the four WCAG principles in mind: content should be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust (POUR).
4. What we are working toward
We are designing and developing OBENA so that, over time, the platform supports the following — recognizing that some areas may not yet fully meet our targets:
- Text alternatives for non-text content, such as alt text for images and captions or transcripts for video.
- Keyboard navigation for interactive elements, so the platform can be used without a mouse.
- Compatibility with major assistive technologies, including screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver. Specific compatibility may vary by feature and may improve over time.
- Sufficient color contrast between text and background to support users with low vision.
- Resizable text without loss of functionality.
- Avoidance of seizure-inducing content, such as flashing or strobing animations.
- Responsive design across desktops, tablets, and mobile phones.
- Plain-language and translated content where feasible.
If a specific feature is not yet meeting one of these targets, please let us know via Section 8 (Accessibility feedback & support).
5. Training & awareness
Our team is dedicated to fostering a culture of accessibility through:
- Periodic training and reference materials for designers, developers, and content creators on accessibility best practices.
- Incorporating accessibility considerations into the design and development process from the start, rather than as an afterthought.
- Tracking advancements in accessibility standards and assistive technology.
6. Ongoing efforts
Accessibility is an ongoing process. We are committed to:
- Conducting internal reviews and, when feasible, third-party audits to identify and address accessibility issues.
- Soliciting user feedback to understand and respond to accessibility challenges experienced by our users.
- Updating the platform to remain aligned with evolving accessibility standards and user needs.
- Treating accessibility-blocking issues as we would any other quality issue when prioritizing work.
7. Legal compliance
We aim to comply with applicable laws and regulations regarding accessibility, including, where applicable:
- The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), as it applies to U.S.-based digital services.
- Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act, where it is applicable to us or to services we provide to U.S. federal-government users.
- The European Accessibility Act (EAA) and the EN 301 549 harmonized standard, where they apply to services offered to users in the EU.
- Other relevant national or regional accessibility laws.
The exact legal regime that applies depends on where users are located and how they use the platform. As our user base and product evolve, we will update this Policy and our practices to reflect the regimes that apply to us.
8. Accessibility feedback & support
We welcome feedback on our accessibility efforts and invite users to contact us with questions, concerns, or suggestions.
- Primary channel: our contact form.
- Alternative channels: If you cannot use the contact form for accessibility reasons, please indicate that in any message you can send, and we will accept reasonable alternative channels (for example, an email address we publish on the website, or another method you propose).
- What to include: A description of the issue, the page or feature where you encountered it, the assistive technology or device you were using (if any), and how we can reach you for follow-up.
- Response time: We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within five business days and to provide a substantive response or remediation plan within a reasonable time after that, depending on the complexity of the issue.
9. Policy review & updates
This Accessibility Policy will be reviewed and updated at least once every twelve months, and whenever there is a material change to our practices, applicable standards, or applicable law. The “Last updated” date at the top of this Policy reflects the most recent review or update.
10. Conclusion
At OBENA, we believe that accessibility is fundamental to our mission of serving all users. We are not done — and we never expect to be “done” — but we are committed to continuous improvement and to building a platform that empowers everyone to engage, contribute, and succeed.
